We Are Very Proud

We have received an update on three of our former Science Olympiad team members.

Two former Northmont S.O. products from our former Wright Stuff program headed to Belgrade, Serbia on Monday for F1D World Championships. They will be competing with F1D's a indoor rubber powered flying model weighting only 1.2 grams, the weight of sugar packet without the paper. Yet, nearly a yard long and 55 cm wide wing.

Justin Young is going to defend his title as the Junior World Champion. He won number of gold medals for Northmont at regional and State S.O. contests before moving to Illinois a couple of years a go. Justin will be a freshman at Southern Illinois University.

Competing in open adult contest will be Doug Schaefer a two time Junior World Champion. He placed third at last World Championship being a part of first place team from USA. Like Justin, Doug won numerous first places for Northmont in flying and several other events. Doug is a past Northmont S.O. team captain. He will be a Senior at Ohio State University majoring in Physics and Math. Watch for him in OSU marching band this fall.

Let’s wish the USA F1D team luck in this years competition, and especially Justin and Doug in their individual competitions. Good Luck guys!

We would also like to congratulate Miss Andrea Dillon, another former NSO member, who just received her white coat for Med School at Wright State University. We wish her luck in her new beginnings on starting Med School and hope that she will always remember to wear her tiara. Even a doctor can be a princess. Good luck, Andrea! We will miss all of your help.

If you know of any other former NSO members who are making great accomplishments or are continuing competing in events, drop us a line and we will let you all know how they are doing.

This goes to show that you never know what you can do. So work hard and try your best. Science Olympiad is a great way to build your confidence and achieve your goals.
